24 Hours in Asheville

Over the weekend I spent 24 hours in Asheville, North Carolina with a good friend. One of the reasons I love living in Charlotte is due to its proximity to both the mountains and the beach. In less than 4 hours I can be in either location! Luckily, Asheville is just over 2.5 hours away from Charlotte, making it an easy destination for a quick getaway.

Kindred

Ever since Kindred hit the map in February 2015, dining here has been on my Charlotte bucket list. About 30 minutes north of Charlotte, Kindred is situated in downtown Davidson. Home to Davidson College, the town has all the charm you’d expect from a small southern town. After talking to a friend about how much I wanted to dine at Kindred, we picked a date, made a reservation (a must if you’re eating dinner!), and let the anticipation build. My friend had already dined at Kindred before, but that didn’t lower her excitement. She actually attended Davidson College so was full of great information about the town! Having a “local” show me around the town was incredibly helpful!

A Day in Winston-Salem

Over the weekend, I made a day trip to Winston-Salem to visit a sweet friend of mine. I don’t know what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised by the history and charm of the city! While I only spent a few hours in Winston-Salem, I left feeling like I could’ve spent an entire weekend there. I made the hour and a half drive Saturday morning, had lunch, did a little sightseeing, and headed home after a quick coffee stop!
